Lahore: Huma Mulji, Assistant Professor at the School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), was one of the five artists to receive the prestigious Abraaj Capital Art Prize 2013. The prize was announced on August 27, 2012 for artists from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Pakistan, and their work will be exhibited from March 20, 2013 to March 24, 2013 at Art Dubai 2013.
A press release about the prize stated, "The Abraaj Capital Art Prize is delighted to announce today the winning artists for its fifth edition, bringing the total number of winners awarded the prize to 21. The Abraaj Capital Art Prize is awarded annually to five artists on the basis of proposals for new artworks, which become permanent additions to the Abraaj Capital Art Collection following their unveiling at Art Dubai. Abraaj Capital, a leading private equity manager investing in global growth markets, launched the Abraaj Capital Art Prize in 2008 to foster and reward artistic development in the region."
