Lahore: We are pleased to announce our upcoming conference, 'School of Tomorrow: Empowering Lifelong Learners', which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 20-21, 2012. This conference is being organised on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of BSS.

The School of Tomorrow: Empowering Lifelong Learners is the fourth in the 'School of Tomorrow' conference series that originally started in 2000 and featured President Musharraf, Noam Chomsky (via live video-conference), Roger Schank, Jonathan Power, and approximately 30 other speakers from the United States, United Kingdom, Malaysia, India, and Pakistan. With over 3,000 delegates in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, this was Pakistan's first major education conference.

In 2010, the third "School of Tomorrow" conference was held on the 35th anniversary of Beaconhouse and brought together educators, classroom practitioners, policy makers and professionals from around the world to develop a new strategy for the future. Speakers included Mary Louise Holly, Norbert Pachler, Andrew Cecil Goodwyn, Claude Alvares and Fauzia Shamim. The keynote talk was delivered by Richard Gerver, inspirational speaker and author of 'Creating Tomorrow's Schools Today', while the conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

This year's conference, our first in Malaysia, aims to further develop a number of themes explored during our previous "School of Tomorrow" conferences. As such, we hope to take our deliberations to the next level through three main streams:
  1. Early Childhood Education: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
  2. Innovative Teaching & Learning for the Primary Years
  3. Building Effective Learning Communities: Strategies for Leadership, Learning & Collaboration

These themes will be addressed through plenary sessions, interactive workshops and panel discussions over the course of the 2-day conference. Stay tuned to TBT for more updates on this momentous event!
